Publishing Reports to Power BI Cloud

Steps to Publish:

  1. Open your report in Power BI Desktop
  2. Click HomePublish
  3. Sign in to your Power BI account (if not already)
  4. Select a destination workspace
  5. Click Select → Wait for publishing to complete
  6. Click the link to open the report in the browser

What Gets Published: • The report (.pbix) file • The underlying dataset • Any custom visuals used • Page layout and formatting

Managing Workspaces

What is a Workspace? A workspace is a shared environment where teams collaborate on reports, dashboards, and datasets.

Types of Workspaces:

Creating a Workspace:

  1. In Power BI Service → Click WorkspacesCreate a workspace
  2. Give it a name and description
  3. Under Advanced → Choose license mode (Pro or Premium)
  4. Add members and set their roles
